چکیده
Aluminum master alloys with rare earth metals are widely studied by many scientists around the world, but research on production of Al-Er is still limited. The purpose this work to study microstructure parameters aluminum-erbium obtained metallothermic reduction salt mixtures containing erbium oxide or fluoride. structural features were investigated optical and scanning electron microscopy, dependence microhardness eutectic solid solution fields content in alloy was determined. Studies have shown that compounds from chloride–fluoride melts characterized a uniform distribution Al3Er intermetallic volume double [(Al) + Al3Er] strong grain refinement effect. analysis showed structure varies depending erbium. When up 6 wt.%, preserved. 8 wt.% more, becomes individual inclusions various shapes compounds.

The master equation approach to configurational kineticsof alloys via the vacancy exchange mechanism: generalrelations and features of microstructural evolution
The earlier-suggested generalized Gibbs distribution approach to the configurational kinetics of non-equilibrium alloys is extended to the case of many-component alloys and the realistic vacancy-mediated atomic exchange mechanism is incorporated. Exact and approximate equations for the temporal evolution of atomic distributions as well as for the free energy of a non-equilibrium alloy are prese...
متن کاملConfirming the Composition of Shape Memory Alloys by Microstructural Characterization
It is well known that the properties of shape memory alloys, such as binary Ni-Ti (nitinol), are very sensitive to composition.[1-3] Especially on the Ni-rich side of stoichiometry, the martensite/austenite phase transformation temperature decreases abruptly when Ni is increased only a few tenths of a weight percent.[4] In ternary high temperature shape memory alloys (HTSMAs) containing Pt, Pd,...
متن کاملMicrostructural Scale Effects on Fatigue of Aluminum Alloys
ABSRACT A comparative study of the surface microstructural changes after fatigue in an ultrafine grained and coarse grained aluminum alloy was performed using orientation imaging microscopy (OIM). The fraction of low angle boundaries with misorientation less than 2.5 ̊ increased for both the coarse and ultrafine grained alloys. A consistent decrease in the fraction of low angle boundaries, with ...
متن کاملSurface Features of Nanocrystalline Alloys
Nanocrystalline alloys are prepared by controlled annealing of metallic glass precursors. The latter are obtained by rapid quenching of a melt on a rotating wheel. This process leads to structural deviation of the produced ribbons’ surfaces. Structural features of as-quenched and thermally annealed 57Fe81Mo8Cu1B10 ribbons were studied employing Conversion Electron Mössbauer Spectrometry (CEMS) ...
متن کاملMagnetic alloys , their electronic structure and micromagnetic and microstructural models
We present a selective review of electronic structure calculations for ferromagnetic transition metal alloys. This is work based on the spin density functional theory of the inhomogeneous electron gas which we also discuss briefly. These calculations can be used to provide estimates, from ‘first principles’, of the alloys’ characteristic properties such as the saturation magnetization, Ms , and...
